Milly's Page

Hi my name is Milly and I was born on the first of February 1999. I was born in Hermannsburg, an Aboriginal community west of Alice Springs. my mother was a really nice natured Blue heeler and very smart and I inherited her qualities except I'm not very Blue...I'm pretty much the same colour as every other Camp dog in Hermannsburg so everyone tells me my Dad was a camp dog. My owner Nick says I'm a "Heeler Cross" and that's what he told the council when he registered me, but in my bones I know I'm just plain old camp dog through and through. I had 5 sisters in the same litter and Nick had the first choice and was very lucky to have him pick me. Even though he has been a bit anal about my obedience training when I was younger he has been pretty good to me really. Mind you I still don't know why he gets so upset when I snatch food out of peoples hands and off their plates if I get the chance. If I could talk his language I would tell him that its in my Camp dog genes and I cant help myself...
Nick travels all over the country for his work and most of the time (unless its only a couple of weeks) he takes me with him. I love the long road trips and I don't mind travelling by air in the cage he bought me (though it gets pretty cold in the planes hold sometimes). The first time he took me on a plane he gave me some drugs which knocked me for six, I ended up shitting myself and it took me a couple of days to recover. These are some of the places I've been:

I'm pretty lucky for a campdog. I don't think any of my sisters have been able to travel as much as me. I really like it when we go in the car and one of my favourite things is barking at cattle, other dogs, people, other cars, anything everything and nothing really...... When we are in a ute the best thing is when I see a japanese person on a bicycle ahead. I wait until the very last second and then bark really loudly just as we reach them. They frighten easily and wobble all over the place when I do that. Nick pretends to be outraged and tells me to "shut up!" but secretly I think he finds it quite funny so I keep doing it...

Below are a few photos of my life so far (click on the thumbnails to see a bigger picture)

Nick reckons I was pretty cute when I was a pup (and I agree with him) My body was almost pure white but after about 6 months I started getting all my red spots...
millypup3.jpg (35754 bytes)    millypup copy.jpg (10067 bytes)    I also had a real thing about swags and all Nick's friends dubbed me the "swag slut" because whenever we went camping and people unrolled their swags I was on them like a flash. I love the feel of canvas under foot and they always smell interesting, especially if they've been rolled up with the same sheets and pillows inside as last year....

As soon as I was on them I'd be asleep in 10 seconds..

In the festive season and on Public Holidays I like to get in the swing of things
like here on Christmas day 2002:

Last Christmas (2003) Nick took me to Numbulwar and forgot to bring my elves hat and I had to make do with a crappy paper hat you get out of a bon bon and it didn't fit very well:
Christmas03milly copy.jpg (64034 bytes) Oh well, at least I felt like I was in the spirit of things.

Sometimes I try to play the tambourine...millytambourine copy.jpg (39589 bytes) but don't manage very well...
